Hey hackers, it's Arsen here 👋
I so love building products that I co-started a startup studio 🤷🏻♂️ We aim (and hope) to ship at least 3 products per year. It doesn’t have to generate revenue or have hundreds of users. We enjoy the process, no matter we fail or succeed. Building products is in our blood 🥊
I would like to share our journey from the beginning to the launch day, sharing our methods and experience. Let’s go…
Day 1: Idea and problem definition
It’s been a long time since we first encountered the problem; People churn, and (most of the time) we don’t know why. After hundreds of guesses on why customers left us, we came up with a brilliant idea; ask them. We emailed them after they unsubscribed, but no luck. Nobody wants to spend even a minute on something they don’t need anymore.
Some companies force you to call them to cancel your account, but it’s not who we are. We care about our customer experience, even at the very last stage. So, we tried embedding a TypeForm with some pre-defined reasons right before the cancellation process on AnnounceKit. It was so easy for users to give feedback with one click and nobody got frustrated. It worked, we got our answers 🎉
This is where we thought “having an app for this will be awesome” and we decided to build a micro-SaaS to collect churn reasons. Think about it; a simple, beautiful pop-up with pre-defined answers 😍
After a quick Google session, we found there are already a few out there, or it’s someone’s side feature. It’s a good sign! If there are products for this problem, it means there is a market. 🤑
Very helpful blog.Thanks for sharing.https://www.printerflash.com/best-sublimation-printer-for-beginners
Nice information. https://printercrown.com/
Thank you. (Stop spamming)
Great idea and very low impact on the cancellation process. I hate having to go through layers of questions or calling to cancel something. Good work!
We did the same for a long time 🤷♂️
I would love to start a startup studio - how'd you go about this?
Hey✌️ It’s not something we started initially. We are building online stuff for a decade. In some point we realized that we are venture building company. I wrote about this on our blog https://kovan.studio/hello-world/
The problem with this idea is the reason why companies do it. They just don't care why you want to cancel, they want to retain you at any cost :(((
I can't imagine any micro-SaaS that would solve the problem of the company's unwillingness.
“retain you at any cost” - i hope this cost will be our subscription fee 🤑
Hey man! Mailed you something. Please check & revert :)
✌️
This is definitely a pain point! We'd count ourselves lucky if we could get insight from a third of the churned customers. Good luck on the journey!
So, if we get insights from one third, should we consider it a good number? I personally think we can get more than half of them.
I'd say over 50% would be great. Don't know what the UI looks like, but a free-text field in addition to the dropdown option to detail out their thoughts would be very valuable from the SaaS's standpoint.
I will share in few days ✌️
Very exciting journey, Arsen and all of your products look great.
Thank you so much. More to come 😊
love this Arsen! I run a SaaS branding agency and am putting out info products and eventually micro-SaaS in the future.
Really love the agency approach to SaaS.
How do you manage multiple projects at once?
A good team and a lot of coffee 😂
Haha cheers to caffeine-fueled entrepreneurship! ☕
Great insights thanks for sharing 🙌
Thanks 🙏
Nice one, can't wait to see what is about to come next.
