Building a Product Ecosystem Around Dev Services

Hey! 👋

I recently launched appsbyluke.com, focusing on building apps for startups.

Dropped it on ProductHunt last week - wasn't the massive launch I dreamed of, but it got me thinking about scaling my impact.

Here's my plan to build a connected ecosystem of different tier products.

High-Tier ($5k-20k): App Development

  • MVP, advanced apps builds for startups
  • Three packages: Core, Plus, and Pro
  • Perfect for founders who need a complete, polished
  • Helps me understand real startup challenges

Mid-Tier ($99-299): Reusable Solutions

  • Ready-to-use components (auth, payments, user management etc.)
  • Clean, production-ready code
  • For technical founders who can code but want to move faster
  • "Know-how" (guides) on setting all the tech around the app
  • Takes care of the "boring" parts so they focus on core features

Low-Tier (sub-$100): Starter Kits (This tier is currently something that I am thinking about, I don't have anything specific yet)

  • Planning phase
  • Thinking about targeted solutions for specific niches
  • Could be templates, guides, or mini-products, not sure yet
  • Bridge between free content and paid solutions

Free Resources

  • Sharing MVP launching insights
  • Considering an ebook about idea-to-launch process
  • Considering some form of building in public, but I see decline of this trend

Here's the interesting part - I'm planning to demonstrate this ecosystem by building app products. The Keyword Apps Approach

  • Building apps targeting specific keywords
  • Focus on medium volume, low competition terms
  • Using domains that match search intent
  • Quick launches (2-4 weeks per app, I still have other work to do, so I can't move as fast as with clients apps)

Each app will:

  • Use my component library
  • Follow my documented process
  • Serve as a real case study
  • Generate organic traffic through SEO
  • Create additional revenue streams

The ecosystem is designed to create natural progression:

  1. Free content attracts founders at different stages
  2. Starter kits help them begin their journey
  3. Component library speeds up development
  4. Custom development for those ready to move fast

Each tier supports the others:

  • Free content builds trust for all paid offerings
  • Lower tiers demonstrate value for higher tiers
  • Higher tiers inform what to build for lower tiers
  • Showcase apps prove the system works

Next Steps:

  • Launching the component library
  • Starting first keyword app (will share progress!)
  • Building free content alongside
  • Using learnings to shape starter kits

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Anyone else experimenting with keyword-based products or building showcase apps, ecosystem of products?
