Building a Serious Games Jobs knowledge base for our subscribers

One of the more challenging things about the niche I've worked in for the past decade is discovery- people who have Video Game development skills but use them outside entertainment have so many different niche industries looking for talent, but there's such an awareness gap that even seasoned professionals might not be aware that these industries exist or what they are called.

Like in programming, I believe simply knowing the name of something gives you power! If you know about it and know how to refer to it, you can Google it, ask friends for reccommendations about it, hunt for jobs with that title- but you don't know what you don't know, and that's often a huge invisible barrier.

For us, this presents two challenges:

  1. Awareness- the developers we serve might understand their skills can be used to create VR applications, but have they considered film? Synthetic training for AI?
  2. Discoverability- as the field of 'Serious Games' is filled with overloaded and niche industry titles, SEO and discoverability of the site itself is a challenge

To begin to address each of these, we're starting to host a knowledge base with articles detailing the types of jobs available to people with these skills, as well as advice on what positions are called, where they're often located, what they involve and how to break in to the industry.

We're starting today with a single page and aiming to build out a comprehensive set of articles on each of the fields relevant to our audience. Would really appreciate if there are any suggestions out there for the best frameworks or tools to manage large numbers of knowledge-base articles as part of a self-hosted site.

We'd also welcome feedback on our first step- the overview page: https://www.seriousgamesjobs.com/jobs_for_game_dev_skills.html
