I’m a short-term rental host with 3 small studios near the beach.
After a while, I realized the hardest part of hosting wasn’t cleaning or pricing — it was repetitive guest questions that always arrived at the worst times.
So I started building a lightweight tool for myself to centralize check-in info, house details, and local tips in one place, mainly to reduce back-and-forth while staying personal with guests.
Now I’m sharing the journey publicly and testing it with a few like-minded hosts.
Curious: for other hosts here, what guest messages do you end up answering again and again?
Great angle — the repetitive message problem is real. From what we've seen working with small hosts, the top three are always: "what's the wifi password", "where do I park", and "what time is checkout again". Simple stuff, but at 11pm it adds up fast.
We've been building something adjacent — a lightweight PMS for independent hosts called Small PMS (free beta). It started because a client with 3 apartments was managing everything in Google Sheets and copy-pasted emails. Worked fine until he added a 4th property. Then coordination errors started piling up, so we built something simple for him.
Your guest messaging angle and reservation tracking could actually complement each other well. Would love to stay in touch and compare notes.
Congrats on the launch 👏
quick question — did you already set any hard limits on LLM/API spend?
I’ve seen a few indie AI apps get hit by agent loops early on.
Congratulations on your launch. It looks impressive! What channels are you exploring to attract early users?
