Building a Web Agency 🌎 (Landing Page Feedback)

Redux Digital - Kamloops Web Agency

Hey folks,

For context, I'm 21, and am in the early stages of starting a website company (with a close friend as a co founder).

Looking for any and all advice anyone would say to someone in my age, and to the business model itself. I'd be grateful for actionable advice as I've been to idealistic when making software products in the past (why I'm focusing on a more tangible service instead).

For those who have experience running profitable landing pages I'd love if you could tear mine apart (https://reduxdigital.ca/). Any observations from a general audience are welcome as well. I believe it's a cut above most local website business landing pages in terms of readability and persuasion, although my portfolio is poorer considering I'm starting out.

Also, this is my 1st post post on IH! looking forward to reading everyone's stories and contributing where I can. πŸ™‚

Thanks for your time,
Josh

    Here are a few comments:

    • Generally I like the visual design, reminded me immediately of method's old site design. Are you targeting local business's? If so have you interviewed them to gauge their reaction to your design? If I was the owner of a small local business I might appreciate a more personal touch from a small 1-2 person shop.
    • What purpose does the looping fireworks serve? Trying to give an international look? It's Paris I assume, and has little relevence to Kamloops. You might notice that there is a bad jerk in the loop as well. If you are targeting local, try a video that people will recognise.
    • Each see how section is full of jargon and unclear. People aren't stupid of course but picking the right language that resonates with your target customer is essential. You could always interview these businesses, find the services they feel they need, and use the language they use to describe it.

Anyway, a great effort and nice looking site.

      This is useful. Thank you!

      • I am targeting local business, and am friends with the owner of one, which helps me stay in the mindset of a non-tech business owner.
      • Changing to a more relevant video is a great point. I pivoted from international to local, never though to change the video.
      • I'm using jargon? Could you point out where? I was actually considering adding some as I don't even write "SEO" on my page, which ironically is bad for SEO. πŸ˜‚

Looks pretty good. Couple things jumped out at me.

    • The sticky header/navbar on mobile is annoying. It takes up maybe 10-15% of the screen real estate but doesn't serve any function.

    • Section header font size and color seems off. Your major sections are in a smaller and lighter font than the explanatory text. You barely notice them. Seems like they should be bigger, darker, and in a different font choice to aid scanning.

    • I'm not a big fan of the "Get Started" button in nearly every section. One CTA at the top and one at the end of your features, or at least some variation in the CTA would make it seem less repetitive.

    • You should have an email address using your domain name instead of that personal email at the bottom.

      Great feedback, thanks!

      • I'll look into reducing the height, good point.
      • I'll think about that, it may not be worth the effort but I agree would likely be an improvement.
      • I'll definitely vary the CTA. The original intention was for each cta to link to another page describing the benefits of seo/automation, etc. It's useful to hear you found it repetitive
      • Good point.
