Building an AI that listens to doctor-patient consultations and writes medical notes automatically – Our journey with Voxmed

Hey indie hackers! 👋

I wanted to share the journey behind Voxmed, our AI-based healthtech project built here in Brazil.

🎯 The problem we’re solving:

Doctors spend hours every week typing patient notes and filling out medical records. It's time-consuming, prone to errors, and reduces face-to-face time with patients.

We talked to dozens of doctors and heard the same complaint over and over again.

🛠️ The solution:

We built Voxmed, an AI tool that listens to doctor-patient consultations and generates structured medical notes automatically.

Our stack:

  • Next.js + Vercel for the front-end

  • Node.js for backend processing

  • Speech-to-Text APIs for voice recognition

  • OpenAI's ChatGPT API to organize and rewrite clinical summaries in a human-like, readable format

  • Custom NLP models to handle medical language nuances

🚀 Where we are today:

  • Launched a freemium model (10 free consultations for doctors)

  • Started collecting feedback from real users (some paying clients coming soon!)

  • Working on improving accuracy and UX before scaling

✅ Lessons learned so far:

  • Talk to users way earlier than you feel ready

  • Launch before you’re comfortable

  • AI hallucination in healthcare is a real challenge (we're still fine-tuning prompts and guardrails)

If you’re building something with AI in healthcare, or SaaS products for B2B, would love to connect and swap insights!
