Building an Interactive UX Toolkit, results and plans

Hi my name is Greg, and I am a co-founder of Talebook https://talebook.io/- an interactive UX toolkit for proper research. It’s been over two years of improving the product based on user’s feedback, and paid clients, so we are close to launching the Talebook 2.0. At this point I thought it would be cool to share the journey with you.

Some of the things that happened:

  • We launched the first version of a product in 2018, and landed as the top 4th product on Product Hunt. This gave us hundreds of new users (and unfortunately new product bugs to fix!). We also learned that as a business we weren't ready for that level of users and unfortunately lost some of those early adopters simply because the product wasn't ready. But.. what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, at least this is what others say. ;-)
  • We’ve been featured by Muz.ly two times which brought us lots of exposure among designers and researchers who were interested in the product.
  • We collected over 10k emails from early testers, users and (later on) paid clients, which was a huge success for us. We get a lot of traction from Medium articles, so it's definitely worth to invest sometime to craft good stories, and dedicated articles.
  • We have come up with new interesting, killer product features! The new Talebook version comes together with beautifully generated reports. Everything is based on your data, input, and UX research. It took us around 2 years to finish everything, so I am really excited to spread the news.

Our main focus for now:

  • Promoting the content that we were crafting for a long time
  • Launch successfully Talebook on Product Hunt (in October!)
  • Reactivation of the customer base and users from our mailing list
  • Focus on links building, promotion on different platforms as guest articles, and soon manning the relationship with some influencers from design sphere
  • Being active on Social Media, mainly Facebook, LinkedIn, Dribbble where we can attract potential users
  • Publishing success stories from happy users as a social proof
  • Building my personal brand as a product designer, on LinkedIn to not only promote the product, but also share my knowledge and experience with others.
  • Setting up a new strategy on user acquisition

We are a small team of four, working remotely as probably most of you here. I believe that in terms of building a product, it’s important to have a structured plan and main goal with step by step things/tasks to follow. Let’s see how it goes, it will be cool to share with you how all these plans went.

For those who would like to test Talebook, and play around with the product. It’s free to test, so feedback and insights are welcomed. 🙏🏼 https://talebook.io/

Also, at this point I’d like to say to all of you who are struggling day and night working on a side project… Don’t give up, and just keep doing, it’s definitely worth the effort in the long run. Especially when a client, or a user says something meaningful about the product or your work itself.
