Building an online expressive writing and journaling app

The other day I was listening to Andrew Huberman about a therapeutic journaling protocol and thought "Hey! We could automate all that overhead so people can just write!"

The protocol is pretty simple:

  1. Pick a topic, preferably something hard or adverse you need to work through
  2. Write about it (or type about it) for 20 minutes without stopping (unless physically unable to continue)
  3. Rest for 15-20 minutes before returning to your life
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for a total of four sessions, usually one week apart

In theory, writers should see their words go from mostly negative to neutral and positive and the process should help people identify connections between issues in their lives--analysis which computers can also do easily for us.

So, I've made writefour.com and I'm working through building it in public with No Code. The idea is pretty simple: let the user pick a topic, set a timer for them to write for 20 minutes, and remind them to do it again in a week. When they finish the topic, they can keep it or destroy it.

    Great idea! Good luck!

That's a cool way to use tech to handle more manual processes. I like your thinking. You could use AI to handle the analysis too, like you said. Good luck with the product!

this is an exciting and innovative approach to therapeutic journaling. The concept of leveraging technology to automate the journaling protocol as described by Andrew Huberman is quite intriguing. By simplifying the process and providing a structured environment for users to express their thoughts, writefour.com seems poised to offer a valuable tool for self-reflection and emotional processing. The idea of using timers and reminders to maintain consistency in journaling is a thoughtful addition, potentially enhancing the therapeutic benefits. I'm curious about how you plan to implement the analysis aspect – will it involve AI to help users identify patterns and shifts in their writing? Overall, building this in a No Code environment sounds like a great way to quickly iterate and improve based on user feedback. Looking forward to seeing how this develops!

      Thanks!

Initially, the only AI based analysis (Really, NLP based analysis) I plan to do will be calculating the number of positive and negatively charged words and trying to present that qualitatively instead of numerically. After that, it's probably NLP for topic identification and extraction. Not sure what libraries I'll use yet but this does seem like a great job for GPTs

Which no code platform are you using ?

Currently on Bubble. The landing page is built via Carrd

I like your thought process, Let's see how it comes, GOOD LUCK!
