Building CRM in 2019
Hey,
I Have been wondering is it worth building CRM system in 2019 or Salesforce and others covers it for majority of business ?
If it is worth building one, what do you think in what niches ?
I am looking for an idea to build something and go indie, just can figure out what exactly to build and/or how to validate my idea.
So if anyone would like to share your thoughts, please go ahead !
I think you will have a hard time unless you've got customers ready. Even then, it's a hard slog because once a business gets into a CRM ecosystem it's hard & costly to move.
You'd have to provide something that no one else has, as there hundreds of CRMs out there and competition is fierce.

Business (at least in my exp) generally invest a lot into a CRM. All of their processes, contact forms, data structure and mapping, etc is pretty much tied to that CRM.
It's possible to move, and there are migration tools but the data never maps 1 to 1 so it's a big task, even for smaller companies.

Case and point, just had a chat with a client that's been in the process of migrating to hubspot from salesforce for 9 months.
That’s insane ! Maybe you know why they are moving to hubspot ?
9 months doesn't sound that long to be honest - in the salesforce world at least...
I think the workflows are the main draw.
Salesforce does not cover all businesses but the CRM space is very crowded : Pipedrive, Hubspot,... and I don't even count the plethora of CRMs you've never heard of :)
So unless you have a very good diffetenciator or targeting a user group with very specific needs you'd rather so something else.
I do have an idea, but I am not sure how to verify my idea. Talking to potential customers, they say it would be cool this and that, but that’s just being nice and polite
