Building DecodeMyForm AI — translating medical bills (EOBs) into plain English

I’m Sankar, working on a side project called DecodeMyForm AI.

The spark: my mom handed me a medical bill (EOB) and asked me to explain it. I thought it would be simple, but I couldn’t. Codes, modifiers, and insurance denials felt like another language. That pain point stuck with me.

So I started building a tool that takes an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and translates it into plain English, answering three simple questions:

What happened

What insurance paid

What you actually owe

Right now, it’s early but working. A test run on real EOBs (with all PHI removed) explains them in under 60 seconds.

I’d love feedback from the IH community:

Does this solve a real enough problem that you’d use or recommend it?

What’s missing that would make it trustworthy?

Any thoughts on niche focus — caregivers, billing advocates, or general consumers?
