I'm working on EcoWise, a browser extension that measures and reduces your website's carbon footprint. With the rise of sustainability in tech, I noticed a gap in tools that help developers and marketers understand their digital emissions.

Also, I struggle to understand how a browser extension can effectively measure the carbon footprint of a website/webapp, without it being a layer in the code/infra/whatever. just my 2 cents, I'm not trying to bash your product, Im trying to understand it, I really care about the planet and sustainability and like I said, I work in this sector so I happen to know a thing or two.

You're 100% right: EcoWise doesn’t automatically reduce emissions — it provides real-time audits, actionable suggestions, and visibility to nudge teams toward greener web practices. I’ll rephrase that line to reflect it more accurately.
As for the moat — agreed again, there are great tools like Website Carbon and Ecograder. What we're doing differently is:
-Live scoring + benchmarking – across categories like hosting, page weight, JS bloat
-Gamified badge system – encourages teams to compete for cleaner scores
-Personal dashboards – to track improvements over time (launching soon)
We’re aiming to be more habit-forming and integrated into daily workflows than traditional once-and-done tools.

Then, saying " measures and reduces " is wrong and/or misleading. It just provides insights so that your customer can take actions upon, in order to reduce. But the way you put it, signals automation. And I can name at least 30-50 similar tools (I have a list documented, I work in this sector). This begs the question: what's your moat? Why this?
Also, I’d genuinely love to see the list of tools you’ve documented. Would be super insightful to learn from what’s already out there — and see where EcoWise can carve out its own niche or improve. Would you be open to sharing it?
There's really nothing special to the list, it's just a list with platforms/SaaS tools for businesses to track and reduce carbon footprint. (I am building a similar tool in this very same space, so I'm doing my homework on what's out there already). You can easily pull the information, it is publicly available. Thanks for your replies.
