Building FitBreakBot: 3-minute health breaks for developers within Telegram

Hi everyone! I’m a developer, and I’ve always struggled with back and eye strain because I get too focused on code and forget to move. Most break apps I've tried were either too clunky or easy to ignore. So I decided to build @FitBreakBot — a lightweight Telegram bot that guides you through short, 3-minute routines for your eyes, neck, back, and wrists. Why Telegram? - No extra software to install on your PC. - It’s less intrusive than a full-screen desktop takeover. - Works across all devices. Current Features: - 240+ quick exercises. - Customizable reminder intervals (45, 60, 90 mins). - Quiet hours (for deep work or sleep). - Streaks to build the habit. My Goal on IH: I'm looking for feedback from fellow builders. Is a Telegram bot enough for you to keep the habit, or is a browser/IDE extension absolutely necessary? Check it out here: https://t.me/FitBreakBot I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

The interesting challenge here is not creating the exercises, it’s getting developers to actually interrupt deep work consistently.

Curious whether you’re seeing better retention from the streak/gamification side or from the convenience of keeping everything inside Telegram.

That’s the million-dollar question. From what I’ve seen so far, Keeping it inside Telegram lowers the 'barrier to entry' — people don't mind starting a 3-minute routine if they don't have to switch apps.

However, the streaks and XP are what keep them coming back on day 4 or 5. It turns a chore into a small win. I think the combo is key: Telegram makes it easy to start, but gamification makes it hard to quit

Thanks for taking the time to share your thinking. I'd enjoy continuing the conversation outside the thread if you're open to it. What's the best email to reach you on?

I’m looking for 10 early testers. What would make you keep a break reminder enabled after the first week?
