Hi team, I am the admin for Hubspot (the CRM tool) at my day job and know the platform quite well. Hubspot has an app marketplace and I thought about building an app for it.
Does anyone have experience with building on top of Hubspot? How would you go about finding and validating ideas?
I've done a lot of Hubspot API work in my current role, so perhaps similar platform knowledge. I'd definitely speak to the users in your company about pain points they have with Hubspot. It's a pretty incredible platform but limited by what it knows; is there a better way to score leads/companies, predict churn, enrich leads with better/more data, identify lapsed leads.
If there's a trend and you can abstract it up to a generic solution you should be able to find some validation. I'm exploring a similar theme in my spare time to see how you can improve data quality of the records you hold, vs trying to look at workflow/automation which is something Hubspot are likely to continue to innovate in.
I think finding ideas is the hardest part, and making sure it's not something HubSpot will build themselves down the road.
I've looked into it on the past and they have quite a lot of apps already so it will be hard to find a good niche.
