Building for you and your circle
Hi all! You might remember me a few days ago for posting about an app that explains and creates Excel formulas. I built this because I got super excited about using AI to do something but I didn't really pay much . After looking at the competition (which I probably should have researched before), I got instantly discouraged. After some self-reflection, I realized two things:
- I was just chasing the tech and the trend.
- I wasn't building something I could use myself.
I know there is a lot of people out there that have succesfully started a business that they don't actually use, buuut, it helps to stay motivated if you or someone within your circle is using your product. So what did I do?
I pivoted... And I built a tool that I can use myself as well as my friends. I realized that question-based learning works the best for me so I have been looking for ways to generate questions from my notes so that I can come back to them later. I wasn't able to find a general solution so I created:
And if it fails... It is already useful to me so, not really a failure!
Really sure the one should build useful techs that he/she most need and skill it so the others can use it, keep going 👏👏

There's no reason why it should fail if you market it correctly.
Think less about trying to sell the tool and more about selling the importance of question-based learning.
This is really cool, I used it on some of my business plans early sections to check whether it answered the questions I was hoping to answer in my introduction to the service and it nailed it. Nice work!
My only suggestion would be to open it up so you can try it out a few times without having to put the email in (maybe 3) as then you can test it quickly on some different forms of content. Appreciate that there may be costs associated that your looking to keep down in its infancy.

I might be wrong, but I've often heard it's easy to monetise and raise capital if you do something that's trending. For example, after the surge of Web3, a lof of companies popped up or pivoted to rake in money. BUT I do agree, it's just better to build something that you're passionate about - though, this might end up being the harder path.
It is for sure profitable to follow the hype, but it doesn't always end in stars. Take a look at all the Web3 apps and their tokens after the hype died. And also how many founders have quit and abandoned projects. If you love what you are doing I think adversity will deter you less.

I'm a big fan of recalling information to learn it better. It would be cool to get the questions a few days later so that I can recall it and reinforce it in my mind.
Another cool thing would be getting questions ahead of reading some text. I read somewhere that if you ask yourself some questions ahead of reading, you pay more attention, looking for the answers.
Hey @moralwil am glad you found it useful. The spaced repetition part is the end goal. Am basically building this since I struggle to remember the books I read so having some daily questions pop up would be very useful. I love your second idea, let's connect on twitter and talk more about this :)
I'm interested in the spaced repetition side of this. Would you have multiple choice answers to pick from? or an open text where people can type anything?

Am launching MCQ after I do account creation, registration, etc. But it is ready! So I am going to do both with the spaced repetition. In terms of validation, am currently exploring comparison algorithms. The idea is to create a quiz executing engine that is able to validate different forms of user input.
