Building in public
by
Shaan
Does anyone have a recommendation for a service that helps to build in public?
Building in public is about be open about your journey, you can do that via any publishing medium: Twitter, blogging, vlogging, Twitching, here on Indie Hackers, etc.
You can also hook your revenue data into your product here on IH or on something like Baremetrics.
Twitter.
You don't need a fancy setup. Just start posting about what you are working on, and sharing your progress.
I would equate it with devs who spend weeks perfecting a static file, dynamically hosted, github integrated blog and then post twice.
Just start talking to people about what you are working on.
Agreed.
Hey Shaan, great question, could you expand upon it more. When you say service I take that not a guide but something you would pay money for to help you.
I'd be curious to know more of what do you mean by service?
thanks!
P.S. I currently am building in the open so I hope to be able to point you in the right direction.
Hi Michael,
One of the things I struggle w/ side projects is finishing them. I tend to move onto the next shiny new project when things get boring or hard. This whole idea of building in public is a great way to protect against that urge to give up. I was thinking of a service that can enforce accountability for folks building in public e.g.
Thoughts?
I'd be interested to see if there was some type of github style personal leaderboard that allowed you to visually show continual days or amount of time contributed towards creating a side project.
Or maybe some type of clock countdown to remind you have only so many days until you must ship your project by a set date.
I think you should see about creating different mock ups, or if you can create MVP versions, test out and get some feedback! Would be fun experiments to see.
