Building Mangavia: a private CBZ to PDF converter

I recently launched Mangavia, a browser-based CBZ to PDF converter.

The idea came from a simple problem: many online converters require uploading large comic archives to unknown servers.

Since CBZ files are just image archives, I wanted to build a tool that could process everything locally in the browser.

Current features:

- CBZ to PDF conversion

- No uploads

- No account required

- Browser-based processing

Website:

I would love feedback from comic readers and indie makers.

The privacy-first approach is the interesting part, not the file conversion itself. I'd keep validating whether comic readers are choosing your tool because it converts CBZ files, or because they never have to trust a third party with their personal library. That's a much stronger reason to switch.

Thanks, that's a really interesting perspective.

I initially focused on making CBZ conversion simple, but you're right that the privacy aspect is what many people seem to value most. Keeping everything local was one of the core decisions from the beginning, and I'll definitely keep paying attention to whether that's the main reason people choose Mangavia.

      Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback!

        Makes sense.

The interesting signal will probably be whether users mention privacy unprompted after using Mangavia, rather than only after being asked about it.

That usually reveals what they actually value most.
