Building my first micro product in public ($144 made with nearly 0 marketing)

"share the things you already use and see what happens"

I always used this micro product myself for months but never thought about sharing it.

until now...

  • I built a couple of products in the past but this is my first ever micro product and this is the first time I build in public
(so liberating to share everything about a product)
  • nearly zero marketing β†’ I only shared 1 link on Reddit. that's it!

here are my early modest results so far

Metrics

  • πŸ’² $144
  • 🀝🏻 16 sales
  • ⭐ rated 5 stars

What's this micro product?

it's called TurboKit ⚑

a blazing fast website template that scores 100/100 in every speed test (Lighthouse, GTmetrix...)

How I'm distributing this?

Through Gumorad πŸš—

I could have built a custom landing page with cool illustrations to better showcase the product and increase conversions.

but keeping things simple for now.

I learned

a few lessons πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŽ“

  • just publish things you have sitting on your hard drive.
you might have a hidden product ready to sell.

  • A product should solve a clear problem and achieve a clear measurable objective.
β†’ build fast websites that score 100/100 in Lighthouse (keep it simple)

  • building in public is not that scary

  • being the first customer of your product really helps

  • don't invest so much time before seeing any form of validation (for example use Gumroad instead of building a custom stripe checkout)

  • worst-case scenario?... nothing happens πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ so just do it!

it's the launch date

just launched TurboKit on Producthut πŸ₯³

today marks the first steps I take into marketing this product
I just launched it on PH!

I would really appreciate your support there... πŸ™πŸ»

Plans

  • take marketing more seriously
  • integrate TurboKit with my other product intab.io
  • move from dynamic i18n to static i18n for better SEO
  • create a better landing page
  • share more frequent updates on Twitter
