Building Nahfa Store - Sunnah-inspired breakfast foods for health-conscious Indian shoppers

nahfa store

I started Nahfa Store to solve a problem I kept running into myself: finding good quality, halal-certified breakfast staples that actually fit a health-conscious routine. Most of what's available locally is either not certified, not fresh, or just not made with real ingredients.

The core of the store is Talbina, the barley porridge rooted in Sunnah tradition. It's the anchor product, and I've built out variants for different needs, like the baby porridge mix for toddlers and a seniors' blend. If someone's new to Talbina and doesn't know where to start, I point them to the complete buying guide, which covers benefits, pricing, and how to pick a variant.

Beyond Talbina, the catalog covers honey, muesli and breakfast cereals, and a growing kids nutrition line. A lot of first-time buyers end up in the value combos, since bundling Talbina with honey covers a full breakfast routine in one order.

Everything is FSSAI and Halal certified, which I lay out in detail on the certificates and trust page since that's usually the first question serious buyers ask before trusting a new store with their family's food.

I'm still early, currently working on newsletter-to-purchase flows and figuring out which products convert best from cold traffic versus repeat customers. Would love feedback from anyone who's grown a niche D2C food brand in India, especially around retention and email.

You’re already separating cold traffic from repeat customers. Do repeat buyers mainly come back for Talbina, or is the first Talbina purchase acting more as an entry point into the wider catalog?

Talbina is the main entry point, about 60% of first time buyers start there. But our repeat-customer retargeting isn't limited to Talbina; once someone buys it, we see them come back and add other products from the collection too. So it functions more as a gateway product than something people repeat-buy on its own.

That gateway behavior is a much stronger signal than repeat-buying Talbina alone. I’d be interested in digging into what drives that second purchase. If you’re open to it, what’s the best email to reach you on?
