Building Nano2Image: an AI image tool for turning ideas into ready-to-use images (looking for honest feedback)

Hey IH 👋 I’m Alex, a solo dev building Nano2Image in public.

What I’m building
Nano2Image is a simple AI image tool that turns text and photos into ready-to-use images in seconds.

  • Type a short prompt → get a clean image you can post right away

  • Upload a photo → change background, style, or mood without touching Photoshop

  • Use presets for product photos, social posts, and quick experiments

The goal is to remove all the friction between “I have an idea” and “I have a decent visual I can share or ship”.

Why I started this
I noticed a pattern around me:

  • Indie hackers and small businesses know they should ship visuals (product shots, landing page images, social posts)…

  • …but they either don’t have design skills, or don’t have time to fight with heavy tools and long prompts.

Most AI image tools feel like toys or sandboxes: fun to play with, but not great at giving you a finished, “good enough to publish” image. I wanted something more focused on outputs that are actually usable. That’s why Nano2Image exists.

What I’m trying next
I’m experimenting with more “job-focused” use cases, for example:

  • AI product photography for small online shops

  • Fast background replacement for marketplace listings

  • Simple templates for social media visuals

I’m still figuring out whether I should keep everything under Nano2Image or spin off a focused vertical product later.

How you can help (would love your feedback)
If you have a minute, I’d really appreciate if you:

  1. Try Nano2Image with one of your own photos or a simple prompt.

  2. Tell me honestly:

    • What worked / didn’t work?

    • Did you get an image you’d actually use in your project or business?

    • What’s missing before you’d consider paying for something like this?

  3. If you’ve built a similar “fun → utility” type product, how did you move from toy users to paying users?

Thanks for reading. I’ll share progress and numbers here as I keep iterating. Happy to answer any questions about the tech stack, marketing experiments, or anything else!
