Building Palette Box: My first Chrome Extension to extract color palettes from any website 🎨

Hey IH folks 👋

I’m currently building Palette Box, a Chrome Extension designed for designers & frontend developers — it lets you easily extract color palettes from any webpage.

This is actually my first time building and launching a Chrome Extension 🚀 — and it’s been an interesting learning curve (Manifest v3, permissions, store approval, pricing model… lots to figure out).

The reason I started this project:
👉 I kept running into this problem when browsing the web — I’d find a beautiful site and think “wow, these colors are great,” but there was no easy way to grab and reuse them.
👉 Screenshots and eyedroppers worked, but not very efficiently.

So I built Palette Box to streamline that:
✅ Drag-select any part of a webpage
✅ Instantly extract dominant colors
✅ Save as presets (with names & sorting)
✅ Export as JSON or share encrypted codes
✅ Import presets for reuse — works great for dev & design handoff
