Hi Indie Hackers,
I’m currently building SkillScore.eu, a SaaS platform to make hiring and freelancing more transparent.
The problem:
Freelancers: CVs are often not ATS-friendly, skills are unstructured, and applying is time-consuming.
Recruiters: Skill matrices are messy, comparing profiles is hard, and matching often fails because of inconsistent skill naming.
Companies: Hidden skills stay invisible, knowledge is lost when people leave, and team staffing takes too long.
What we’ve built so far:
AI-powered CV import & skill extraction
Skill Confidence Levels (e.g. “3 years React”)
One-Click CV variants for specific jobs/projects
Public profiles with analytics
Gap Analysis (coming soon) → see what skills you’re missing for a dream job/project
Why I’m here:
I’d love to hear from this community:
Feedback from others who have built SaaS or matching platforms
Experiences with pricing, positioning, growth channels
Ideas for collaboration (content, marketing, tech)
Early adopters who want to play around with the product and give feedback
If this sounds interesting, check out SkillScore.eu — I’m personally onboarding the first 200 users for free.
Thanks a lot — and happy to answer any questions!
Alex
Really interesting problem space 👏 — skill matching is messy both for freelancers and companies, so your angle makes a lot of sense.
I’ve been working on two different SaaS prototypes myself and ran into similar challenges around positioning and traction:
With FoundersInno, I’m exploring how early founders can showcase MVPs/prototypes in one place and actually get noticed without heavy ad spend.
With Komplora, I’m tackling SOC2 compliance automation for startups, trying to convince early SaaS teams that compliance doesn’t have to be a $20k+ headache.
In both cases, the hardest part has been figuring out how to frame the value clearly and get early adopters engaged. Curious — how did you approach onboarding your first testers and keeping them active?
That's some great direction! You could also consider focusing on one ICP and shipping ATS export with a canonical skill taxonomy to validate recruiter demand ;)
This sounds promising. I’ve seen so many mismatches between what freelancers write on their CVs and what recruiters actually search for. Having skills structured and comparable could really help both sides. How are you planning to handle cases where people exaggerate their experience?
Congrats on launching 🚀! The toughest part isn’t building, it’s getting visibility in the early days. When I launched my first project, I wasted weeks submitting to directories one by one. That’s actually why we built (StartupSubmit .app)— it helps founders get listed on 300+ startup directories without the manual grind. Getting that exposure gave me my first wave of users. Wishing you lots of traction ahead!
Love this, Alex—clean problem framing.
I built AdsDog (AI avatar video ads—think Creatify vibes). A few lessons that map to SkillScore:
Narrow the wedge ICP. Serving freelancers + recruiters + companies at once blurs the message. Pick one (e.g., boutique recruiters or freelance devs doing EU contracts) and speak only to them for 4–6 weeks.
Outcome > features. AdsDog converted better when we promised “ship a studio-quality ad in 10 minutes” vs listing models/avatars. For you:
Freelancers: “ATS-ready CV variant in 10 minutes.”
Recruiters: “Normalize 100 CVs + match to a JD in 15 minutes.”
Pricing that scales with use. Credits/usage beat pure seats for us. Try: imports, matches, or exports as the value metric. For freelancers: free → €9–€19/mo or credit packs for CV variants.
Activation moment matters. AdsDog’s Aha = first export that looked “hireable.” For you:
F: import CV → 1-click variant → download
R: upload 50 CVs → auto skill matrix → JD match score
Make that path <15 min.
Channels that actually worked:
Creator-style teardown posts (before/after with numbers) on LinkedIn/X.
SEO for intent keywords (e.g., “ATS React CV,” “skill matrix template”).
Communities (value-first, no link dumps): r/recruiting, r/cscareerquestionsEU, r/freelance.
Partnerships: bootcamps/career coaches → free “ATS clinic” webinar; micro-agencies who place contractors.
Collab ideas: happy to swap notes; we could co-create a free ATS CV grader or a skills matrix template as a lead magnet. I’m also testing a small synthetic user interview flow to pre-validate messaging before paid traffic—can run a quick pass on your landing if helpful.
