Building SoulSound β€” a privacy-first creative space for artists. Looking for a technical co-builder.

Hey Indie Hackers πŸ‘‹

I’m building SoulSound, a creator-first platform designed for artists who want a deeper, more intentional way to share music, emotion, and creative process β€” without chasing algorithms or turning art into noise.

The core idea is simple: SoulSound gives artists a space to create, share, and connect around music and creative expression in a way that feels human, private, and meaningful. No engagement farming. No attention hacking. Just creation and resonance.

This is still early stage (locked MVP). The focus right now is:

A clean web-first experience

Artist profiles + expression spaces

Audio-centric interaction (listening > scrolling)

Privacy-first design and intentional UX

I’m a solo founder, non-technical, fully bootstrapped, and working on this full-time. I’ve done the product vision, UX direction, and early validation, and I’m now looking for a developer who enjoys building as a side project or passion project alongside their 9-to-5.

I’m offering equity (up to 30%), not contract work. I’m specifically looking for someone who:

Enjoys shaping products from zero β†’ one

Values thoughtful design over growth hacks

Wants real ownership, not just tickets and tasks

If this resonates with you β€” or you’ve wanted to build something meaningful outside your day job β€” I’d love to connect.

Happy to share the GitHub repo, product outline, and roadmap.

Thanks for reading πŸ™

The "locked MVP" framing you've used is actually a good sign β€” most non-technical founders at your stage either under-scope (one feature that doesn't work) or over-scope (everything at once). Audio-centric UX with privacy-first design as the core constraint is clear enough to actually build against.

The equity model makes sense for the right developer, but it also means the timeline needs to be realistic. A web-first MVP with artist profiles, audio playback, and basic interaction loops β€” depending on how much of the UX direction is already spec'd out β€” could be a 6 to 10 week build for someone focused. The question is whether you've mapped what "done" looks like for v1, or if that's still evolving.

What does the early validation look like so far β€” are there artists already waiting, or is it more directional at this point?

The "listening > scrolling" framing really resonates. Most creator platforms optimize for time-on-site, which usually means interruption-based engagement. Building for depth and resonance instead is a fundamentally different product philosophy.

One thing I've been thinking about with intentional platforms: how do you balance discoverability with privacy? The challenge I see is that "no algorithm" often means either friends-only circles (which limits reach) or relying on external channels for distribution (which puts artists back in the algorithmic noise).

Curious if you've thought about middle-ground mechanics - like curated playlists by tastemakers, or community-driven surfacing that doesn't feel like engagement farming?

    Hi Samzin,

SoulSound aligns strongly with how I like to build products: intentional UX, privacy-first design, and depth over growth hacks.

I’m a senior software engineer (web + SaaS), currently full-time but open to co-building early-stage products with real ownership. Happy to review the repo and roadmap and see if there’s a fit.

    This resonate,

A lot of creators I have spoken with feel burned out by alogrithm-driven plateforms. Creating something smaller, more intentional, and private is refreshing - but also much harder than chasing growth metrics.

Curious how your are thinking about onboarding the right early creators while keeping that human, non-alogrithmic feel intact?
