Building TrackYourQR: Turning QR Codes into Measurable Growth Tools

Hey Indie Hackers đź‘‹

I started working on TrackYourQR after repeatedly running into the same problem while using QR codes for campaigns:
they were easy to create, but almost impossible to measure properly.

Most QR code generators focus only on generation. Once the QR code is printed or shared, you’re stuck — no edits, no real insights, and no way to understand what actually happens after someone scans it.

That gap is what motivated me to build TrackYourQR.

The idea was simple:

  • Allow dynamic QR codes that can be updated anytime

  • Provide clear scan analytics (location, device, time)

  • Enable rule-based redirects and A/B testing for offline-to-online campaigns

Instead of QR codes being a “set it and forget it” tool, I wanted them to behave more like trackable links used in digital marketing.

The product is still evolving, and I’m actively learning from real usage and feedback. If anyone here has used QR codes for marketing, events, or product growth, I’d love to hear:

  • What frustrated you the most?

  • What features you wish QR tools had?

  • How you currently track offline campaigns?

If you’re curious, this is the project I’m working on:
