Building Wrklyst in public — free browser tools where your files never leave your device

Hey Indie Hackers!

I've been quietly building Wrklyst on the side

alongside my day job.

## The Problem I Solved

I got frustrated with tools like SmallPDF and

ILovePDF uploading sensitive documents to their

servers. I wanted something truly private.

## What I Built

Wrklyst — a growing collection of free utility

tools that run directly in your browser using

WebAssembly.

No file uploads to servers

No account needed

No paywalls

Always free

Covering PDF, images, text, developer tools

and more. New tools dropping every week

## Where I Am Now

- Site is live at wrklyst.com

- Google Search Console verified

- Getting first organic traffic

- AdSense pending approval

- ProductHunt launch scheduled

## What I Need Help With

- What tool do you wish existed?

- Any feedback on the site?

- How did you get your first 100 users?

Would love honest feedback from this community

I'm curious what convinced you privacy is the primary reason people choose browser-based utility tools rather than convenience or speed.

From the users you've spoken with, do they actively look for local processing, or is it something they appreciate only after discovering it?

Honestly? No hard data yet — that's a fair callout. My gut says people come for the speed/no-signup part first, and privacy is more of a "oh nice" they notice after. I lean on privacy in marketing since it's a real differentiator, but I should actually ask users instead of assuming. Might add a quick "why'd you pick this tool" prompt to find out for real

That honesty is useful — especially separating what you know from what you’re assuming. The “why’d you pick this” prompt should make that clearer pretty quickly. Would be good to continue this conversation — what’s the best email to reach you at?
