Built a coaching + budgeting platform. Looking for the right person to take it further.

Three years ago I founded MyBudgetCoach to help people stick with zero based budgeting. Here's the problem as we saw it:

  1. Zero based budgeting apps like YNAB have cult followings... but a really low success rate. The people who get it love it. But most miss out because behavior change is hard.

  2. Budget coaches exist... but they all have their own websites, their own models, their own pricing. It's inconsistent and there is no trust system with ratings, etc. Getting started with a coach requires a big upfront investment of research and money.

We brought the two together in MyBudgetCoach. You get premium zero based budgeting software (built on Actual budget, an open source YNAB alternative), and built in access to a coach. Some users choose to meet with their coach on a regular basis. Others just DM their coach from time to time for encouragement and support. Here's what has worked:

  1. Users love the easy access to a coach at an affordable rate with a free trial.

  2. Coaches love that we are helping on the client acquisition side.

  3. Large brands are signing affiliate partnerships because we've standardized the model.

  4. Other professionals are sending clients to us (financial advisors, etc).

Here's where we are still struggling:

  1. Client acquisition is hard. The SEO foundation is there. Someone with content/growth chops could unlock a big channel here ("Best Budgeting Apps" listicles are very popular).

  2. The tech stack is growing. While we are primarily built on Actual we are developing all the coach/client connection pieces. Chat, payments, CRM, scheduling, etc are all systems we've bolted on. It's becoming a lot for a bootstrapped solo founder.

Here's what I'm seeking...

  1. My focus is shifting and I want this to land with someone who can give it the attention it deserves.

  2. I'd love to partner with someone who has a passion for this space. Who ideally has some technical and/or marketing skills.

  3. I'm really flexible on what a partnership here could look like. All the way up to a full acquisition if its the right fit.

There are a LOT of apps in the budgeting space. What makes this opportunity unique is we are more than an app. We are a marketplace connecting users and coaches with an app to facilitate. We think that budgeting is a skill and human connection is crucial to help a lot of people stick to it. We have a Discord server of 150+ coaches and great relationships with several professional organizations where coaches organize.

If any of this piques your interest I'd love to chat. Shoot me a DM and let's jump on a Zoom.

You mentioned SEO and content as the unlock - 100% that's what I see often in marketplaces.

I'm a full-stack engineer based in Dubai, 10+ years building production software, Rust/WASM specialist. I build end-to-end so you stay focused on growth.

What does the current tech stack look like? are you maintaining it yourself, and is that the main bottleneck right now?

Hello Zach, are you available for a Zoom meeting right away. I'm interested. Let's talk about this.

Standardizing the coach-marketplace model alongside a ZBB app is a smart move—human connection is definitely the 'missing link' in habit-forming software. It’s a huge opportunity for someone to scale those affiliate partnerships.
