Hey IH,
I just listed ForgeLogbooks here so figured I'd do a proper intro.
The short version: you enter your training program into a web app (exercises, split, sets, whatever you're running) and it generates a custom logbook as a PDF. You can download it right away or we send it to Lulu for print-on-demand and a physical copy shows up at your door in about 72 hours.
How I ended up building this: I was stuck on all my lifts for months. Good program, eating well, sleeping fine. Then I actually paid attention to what I was doing between sets. I'd pick up my phone to log a set, open Instagram "for a second," and next thing I know 6 minutes have passed and my heart rate is back to resting. Every single set. Every workout.
Left the phone in my bag one day and brought a cheap notebook. Hit PRs within a few weeks just from actually staying focused and keeping rest times honest.
But tracking in a blank notebook is terrible. I was flipping through pages mid-workout trying to find what I squatted last Tuesday while some guy stood there waiting for the rack. Nothing lined up, nothing was organized, no way to spot patterns week to week.
I wanted something with my actual exercises already laid out, proper space for tracking, organized by training day. Couldn't find it anywhere. So I built it.
Pricing is $10 for the PDF, $19.99 for a printed copy (includes the PDF). Lulu handles all the printing and fulfillment so I carry zero inventory which is nice.
The phone-free angle has been way stickier than I expected. Most of my traffic comes through blog content targeting lifters who are sick of tracking workouts on the same device that's wrecking their focus.
Happy to talk about the build, the Lulu API integration, PDF generation, any of it. Ask me anything.
This is a great example of solving a real problem you personally experienced—those are usually the best products. The “phone-free training” angle is especially strong because it taps into something a lot of lifters feel but don’t actively solve. You might even lean harder into that positioning (focus, discipline, better rest times = better gains) rather than just the logbook itself. Also, the print-on-demand model with zero inventory is a smart move—low risk and scalable. Curious if you’ve tested bundling different templates (e.g., powerlifting, hypertrophy, beginner splits) as separate offers or upsells?
The phone-free angle isn't just a feature; it's the actual mechanism. You didn't just build a logbook; you removed the distraction machine from the rest period. That's why the PRs came back. The PDF is just the container. The constraint is the intervention.
