Built a LinkedIn alternative solo in three years with no coding background. 59 members, nobody paying yet. What I've learned so far.

No ads, no algorithm, zero commission. Three months after launch, here is what actually moved the numbers.

Started DOER in November 2022 because I wanted a professional network where what you do is the only credential. No ads, no algorithm, zero commission on what members earn. Launched June 2026. Three months in: 59 members, two on paid trials, nobody paying yet, and a two person growth team on a four week trial. Biggest lesson so far is that signups mean nothing. Getting people to come back on day two is the whole game, and the only thing that has moved that number is a real person welcoming each new member within a day. Happy to answer anything.

Honestly no, not yet. Sixty members, so any split I gave you would be a handful of people. What I can see is that nearly everyone who came back on day two had a message from a real person on day one. Whether that is cause or coincidence I can't tell from numbers this small. I'm not a growth person so I brought in a two person growth team last week, both wanted in because of what DOER is. Every new member gets a personal welcome now and we're tracking day two return properly. I'll post the real numbers here in a few weeks, good or bad.

The welcome effect is the strongest signal here. Have you measured how much day-two return changes for members who get the personal welcome versus those who don’t?
