šŸŽ„ Built a Tool That Auto-Generates Video Summaries(veo3 im) – Still Figuring Out the Right Direction, Would Love Your Input

Hey folks šŸ‘‹

I’m an indie hacker working solo on side projects, and I just launched something new: https://veo3.im/. It’s a tool that automatically turns long videos (YouTube, TikTok, etc.) into short, highlight-style summary videos—complete with text summaries too.

This came out of my own frustration with long-form content. I kept wishing I could just get to the good parts faster. So I built this.

Here’s what it does:
Drop in a video link (YouTube/TikTok) → get a quick summary video

Uses subtitles + visual detection (Whisper + custom logic) to find the key moments

Also gives you a written summary (useful for notes, repurposing, etc.)

Different summary styles available (fast-cut, narrated, highlight reel)

Works in English (still improving multilingual accuracy)

Now that the MVP is out there, I’m looking for honest feedback from fellow builders and creators. I’d love your thoughts on a few things:

Who do you think this tool is really for?
Creators? Editors? Educators? Casual viewers? I’m trying to find the right user base.

What would make it truly valuable to you?
Better accuracy? Faster processing? Cooler visuals? I’m juggling all three right now—curious what you'd prioritize.

Should I allow local video uploads?
Right now it’s just links. Not sure if adding file upload would actually increase usage or just complicate things.

I built the whole thing myself (frontend, backend, UI) in about 3 months. It’s live now, and I’m slowly getting a few users—but I’m hoping to learn faster with input from this awesome community.

So yeah—if you’ve got a few minutes, I’d love for you to try it out: https://veo3.im/

Any thoughts, critiques, or ideas are super welcome. Thanks a ton for reading šŸ™Œ

What exactly will be your business model for this Smoteria?

    1. 1

Great question — to be honest, I’m still exploring the best business model. One idea is to serve content creators who constantly need fresh video material, since they might really benefit from a tool like this. But I’m still figuring things out. Do you have any suggestions or advice? I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

Congrats on shipping this! Looks super useful.

Personally, I see this really clicking with basically anyone dealing regularly with long videos. Especially people in content creation, using Veo3 to repurpose long-form videos into social media posts or blogs.

I'd say first finding the right path with links is the way to go, and then introducing local uploads. IMO, no need to complicate things in the beginning.

Nice job on getting this live quickly. I’ll be keeping an eye on it!

Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback! Totally agree — starting with link-based inputs keeps things simple and fast, and local uploads can come next. Love that you see the value for content creators and repurposing — that’s exactly our goal. Thanks for the support, and excited to keep improving it!

I would but sadly veo3 not available to UK yet

Sounds like a pretty cool AI tool! I’ll give it a shot and let you know what I think.

      Really appreciate it!

I watch a lot of videos to learn stuff, so I gave Veo3 a try — it’s a tool that auto-generates video summaries. It’s pretty handy for quickly catching the main points and definitely saves me time, especially with longer videos. The interface is super simple and easy to use, so I picked it up pretty quickly.

That said, sometimes the summaries aren’t totally accurate. Important details can get left out or feel kind of vague, especially with complicated videos or ones packed with info. Also, there aren’t many options to customize the summaries — like changing the length or focusing on what I care about — which can be a little frustrating.

All in all, as someone who watches videos a lot, Veo3’s been useful, but there’s definitely room to make it better.

Thanks for the awesome feedback! Glad Veo3’s easy to use and saves you time. I hear you on the summary stuff and not having enough options — we’re working on it. Always feel free to drop me a line if you wanna share more!🤣

Awesome, I have been looking for a tool like this. This looks really cool! I totally get the frustration with long videos. I'd love to see how well it works on tutorials. Good luck finding your audience and keep up the great work!

Thanks! What do you think after trying it out? Feel free to tell me!

Really impressive — love that you solved your own pain point first.

I could see this being super helpful for:

    Creators doing research
    Teams summarizing internal recordings
    Educators breaking down long lectures

Personally, local uploads would be a great next step — I’ve got a bunch of saved Zooms I’d love to chop without first uploading them somewhere public.

Curious: have you tested different cut styles with users yet? Wondering which format performs best in terms of watch-through or share rate.

Excited to see where this goes — bookmarked!

This ai tool works really well and has helped me generate several high-quality videos. I'm really looking forward to seeing the results when they are shared on my social media

Cool idea. It would be really helpful for someone solo creating long form content

  10. 1

I guess it worth trying at least

  11. 1

Hey! Really interested to have a look at the video summaries in action, but it seems that the link leads to an AI Video generation tool... Is the link right?
    Thanks

This is really cool, if you can prepare its APIs as well, that will be huge because then AI Agents will take over, search for trending videos and creating small shorts from it and posting on ytube channels. Make sense?

    1. 1

Thanks a lot! That's a great idea — offering APIs would definitely open the door for automation and AI agents to create and post content at scale. We're already exploring that direction, and your feedback gives us even more motivation to make it happen. Stay tuned!

Congrats on the launch! The idea really resonates—there’s so much long-form content and it’s tough to keep up. I think this could be super useful for content creators and educators who want to quickly repurpose material or get key points for sharing.

    1. 1

Thank you! Really glad the idea resonates. That’s exactly who we had in mind — creators and educators looking to save time and get more value from their content. Appreciate the support!

  14. 1

Love the idea. I personally would use it to educate myself on news and upcoming prodcuts and even helping kids with homework learning a new concept in medicine.

Thank you! We've just updated the features — feel free to give it a try and let me know your honest thoughts. I'd really appreciate your feedback!

Looking forward to hearing what you think! I’ll be all ears and ready to make improvements.
