Built a tool to go from idea → PRD → build plan → AI prompts

Hey folks 👋

I just opened up the public beta for Devplan, a tool I’ve been building with a buddy to scratch our own itch.

Like a lot of you, I’ve been experimenting with AI coding tools (Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, etc.) and while they’re powerful, they’ve also been… chaotic.

I kept running into the same problem when trying to use AI tools to build. They create powerful outputs, but often go off the rails. They re-implement things that are already there, don't follow patterns and there's also no real workflow. Planning lived in one place (mostly in my head), the prompts I'm using weren't structured and often required a lot of rework.

Devplan is my attempt to fix that. It gives builders a shared workspace to go from vague idea to structured build plan with AI-executable coding prompts.

• Build plan generation that breaks down features into tasks + prompts
• A CLI to pull tasks into your IDE
• Shared context across everything

🤔 Where I could use feedback:

• Should we lean more into the planning side (PM/PRD focus) or the execution side (prompting/code tasks)?
• Are the agents asking the right questions?
• Is this solving a real pain or just another AI layer on top?

Would love any feedback (good, bad, or brutal) on what’s useful, what’s confusing, what’s missing.
