Built a tool to parse PPP Loan data

In early July the US government released data on recipients of the PPP loan- around $500 billion total distributed.

I worked with a few developers to scrape the data and enrich it with web domains, phone numbers and contacts, and then put it into a searchable, filterable web app. Forbes and Propublica built similar tools, but without the enrichment, and I believe our search functionality is currently the best available.

There are more than 650k companies in the database and we have phone/domain for around 500k (some where we have domain but not phone and vice versa).

I believe that:

A- the public should be able to easily search and manipulate this data.

B- this data provides an excellent snapshot of US small/mid sized businesses and is valuable for B2B purposes. Records with phone/domain are available for download at $0.02 per. A supplier could search for example for all of the electrical contractors in Michigan, or all of the software publishers in California, or all non profits with more than 50 jobs retained nationwide etc etc.

If you are interested, please check it out. The site takes between 20-40 seconds for initial load ( it’s a ‘big ol’ file) but is then fast to search various configurations.
