Built an Excel VBA app for Shopify & Etsy profit analysis — looking for beta testers

After several months of development, I've reached the beta testing stage of a project I've been building: Shopify Profit & Break-Even Toolkit.

It's an Excel-based toolkit designed to help Shopify and Etsy sellers:

• Calculate true profit margins
• Simulate pricing strategies
• Analyze break-even points
• Generate PDF reports for decision-making

The project started because I kept seeing sellers struggle to understand whether a product was actually profitable after fees and costs.

I'm currently looking for a small number of beta testers willing to provide honest feedback on usability, reporting, and overall usefulness.

In exchange, I'm happy to test other founders' products and provide feedback as well.

I'd especially love to hear from Shopify and Etsy sellers:

  • What profitability metrics do you track most?

  • What's the hardest part of pricing products correctly?

  • Would you use a tool like this in your workflow?

Thanks for reading, and I'm happy to answer questions.

This is a useful niche because Shopify and Etsy sellers often do not have a profit problem on the surface. They have a confidence problem.

They are asking: “Am I actually making money on this product after fees, shipping, discounts, ads, and mistakes?”

I’d be careful leading too much with “Excel-based toolkit.” Some sellers may hear that as extra work.

The sharper promise might be closer to:

“See if a product is actually profitable before you keep selling it.”

That makes the tool feel tied to a real seller decision, not just analysis.

For beta testers, I’d probably target sellers with 10 to 50 active listings who are already making sales but unsure which products are worth keeping, repricing, or cutting. Their feedback will be more useful than very early sellers who do not have enough data yet.

Happy to put a tighter beta-positioning version in writing if useful. The main thing I’d map is the first seller segment, the landing page promise, and the feedback questions that tell you whether this becomes a paid tool.

      Thanks, that's really helpful feedback.

The confidence problem framing makes a lot of sense. I've been thinking about the tool as a profit analysis and break-even toolkit, but sellers may care more about answering a simpler question: "Am I actually making money on this product?"

I'm curious about one thing: if you were positioning this for Shopify sellers who already have sales, what would you consider the strongest promise to lead with on a landing page?

Would you focus on profitability, pricing decisions, product viability, or something else?

Yes, I have a clearer angle for this.

The short version is that Shopify sellers probably care less about “profit tracking” and more about knowing which products are worth keeping, repricing, or cutting.

Drop your email and I’ll send over a tighter version. It’ll be easier to make useful in writing than turning this into a full landing page teardown here.

A clearer angle might offer better positioning.
