Built and launched a language platform in 2 days!

I've been working on a few longterm projects which can go on for way too long.

So last weekend I had an idea for a language site full of funny TikToks and Reels, and I thought I'd see if I can build and launch by Monday. Start on Saturday, launch on Monday morning!

(๐Ÿ‘€ spoiler: here is the PH launch)

No Code + Code

To do it, I knew I'd need to use a nocode platform where I could add a little code if I needed...

nocode + code + design = Framer!

Start with a template!

  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Template: I grabbed a free template from the Framer marketplace, and donated $5 to the author as a thanks, then set to work!
  • ๐Ÿ’ฝ CMS: Since it's a site of curated articles, I needed a CMS, and Framer provides one of those - it's basically like a spreadsheet..so in the future I could make it crowdsourced through a google sheet, which can then be imported directly to Framer in a few clicks!
  • ๐Ÿ“ Forms : To collect submissions to the site, Framer also comes with some awesome form integrations that are easy to set up - a banged up a sign up page for the newsletter, and a page for submissions, it's good to go!

Code

In Framer you can also create React components, and use them as little modules in your site. That was needed for the TikTok and video embeds, as I could add a little more custom behaviour. See more about code components here.
I was surprised you can even import npm modules too! I used React-media-embed to embed the TikToks.

Just launch it!

Once it was (nearly) ready, I just launched it on Product Hunt, scheduled for this morning, and the rest is history!

So if you're looking to launch something quick, give Framer a try, or some no-code builder for sure. Start with a template, and get it out there!
