Hey IH folks,
Companion started as a side project - saw Shopify store owners manually checking dashboards constantly. My angle: one email per week with the numbers that matter.
The Setup: - Founder-led Shopify stores (my ICP: $10k-50k/month revenue) - Tech: Next.js, Vercel, Supabase, Resend, Anthropic API - Zero paid ads, pure cold outreach
Goals for the next 6 weeks: Hopefully hit 10 founding stores (free 3mo + 50% forever offer) - Build simple onboarding flow - Collect feedback on email format
Open Questions: - Anyone here running SaaS that serves Shopify merchants? Happy to hear how you found your first customers. https://myowncompanion.com
Ask me anything about the build, the outreach, the numbers, or bootstrapping in general.
- José
A weekly digest is valuable because it reduces dashboard fatigue. The next thing I'd keep validating is whether store owners are buying summarized metrics or clearer decisions about what deserves their attention each week.
Thank you for your feedback, Aryan! I'm having a hard time gathering founding store owners to give me that feedback, any tips on how to get my first client?
That's a good question.
I do have a view on it, but I don't think "how to get the first client" has a useful generic answer. I'd rather explain the reasoning in the context of what you're building than give you startup clichés.
If you're open to it, what's the best email to reach you on?
Thank you so much! Through hello @ myowncompanion . com would be great
Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
