Hey everyone ๐
Iโve been working on a product called HousingPal, a hyperlocal rental marketplace focused on Hyderabad โ and Iโm excited (and a bit nervous) to finally share it here.
If youโve ever searched for a rental in India, youโve probably faced this:
Brokerage fees of โน10,000โโน30,000
Platforms hiding owner contact details behind paywalls
Too many duplicate or outdated listings
Even platforms that claim โno brokerageโ often end up pushing paid plans to actually connect with owners.
As a renter (and observing friends/colleagues), this felt broken.
HousingPal is a simple platform where:
๐ Owners can list properties for free
๐ฒ Tenants can contact owners directly
โ No brokerage, no middlemen
Right now, weโre focused on high-demand areas in Hyderabad like:
Gachibowli
Madhapur
Kondapur
Financial District
MVP is live
Started adding listings manually + onboarding owners
Recently launched an Instagram page to attract both tenants and owners
Very early days โ still validating demand and improving the experience.
Iโd really appreciate feedback on:
How to get initial supply (property listings) at scale
Whether tenants would trust a new platform like this
Growth strategies that worked for other local marketplaces
What would make you switch from existing platforms
Short term:
๐ Get the first 100โ500 real users (owners + tenants)
Long term:
๐ Build a trusted, no-broker rental ecosystem starting with one city
If youโve built a marketplace, worked in proptech, or have thoughts on this space โ Iโd love to hear from you.
Also happy to share learnings as I go (thinking of building in public here).
Thanks for reading! ๐
