I'm a plasterer. And I was a mess with my books.
Receipts stuffed in a toolbox, invoices written on scrap paper, no clue who'd paid me and who hadn't. Every January I'd spend a weekend hunched over a spreadsheet trying to make sense of it all, dreading the Self Assessment deadline.
I tried the obvious stuff. Xero, QuickBooks, FreshBooks. They're powerful, yeah. But they're built for accountants, not for someone who wants to spend the day on the tools. Cost a fortune and I needed a YouTube tutorial just to send an invoice.
So I built TradeTally.
It does three things, and does them well:
1. Invoices - send one from your phone in 30 seconds. Professional, VAT-ready, with payment tracking.
2. Receipts - snap a photo, throw the paper away. Mileage tracking too.
3. Tax - come January, your SA103F is practically done.
No accounting jargon, no hidden fees. One flat price. 14-day free trial, no card needed.
It's early days - just me building this - but it already handles invoices, expenses and tax prep for UK sole traders. If you're a sparky, plumber, plasterer, builder, or any kind of trade and your current "system" is a shoebox, give it a try.
Would love any feedback from the IH community.
