Two weeks ago, I started building Tone - a Slack app that checks your message tone before you hit send.
The idea came from seeing how often messages get misunderstood at work. Research shows 91% of workers have had this happen. It costs companies real money - around $420K annually per 100 employees from miscommunication.
What it does:
Type /tone in Slack, paste your message, get instant AI feedback on how it might be perceived (harsh, passive-aggressive, professional, friendly, etc.)
Privacy-first approach:
Only you see the analysis. Not your manager. Not HR. Just you.
The problem I'm facing:
I need teams to test this and give me honest feedback. This is my first product launch, and I genuinely don't know how to find early users.
What I'm offering:
- Free access during beta
- Your feedback shapes the product
- Early adopter pricing when it launches
My question to this community:
How do you actually find your first users? I see people posting about their products here, but I don't know if this is the right approach or if I should be doing something completely different.
If your team deals with Slack miscommunication and you'd be willing to test it, I'd genuinely appreciate it. But more than that, I'd love advice on how to approach this whole "finding users" thing properly.
What would you do in my position?
Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?
