Every time a new project came in, I did the same awkward dance.
Send a calendar link. Wait. Follow up. Get a time confirmed. Then email a contract PDF. Wait again. Chase the signature. By the time we'd agreed on dates and both sides had signed, a week had passed — and the client's urgency had cooled.
I charge by the day. My whole income depends on locking in jobs fast. And I was losing momentum to friction I was creating myself.
I tried stitching together Calendly + a contract tool + email. It kind of worked. But "kind of" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. The contract lived in one place, the booking in another, and I was still manually bridging them.
So I built hard-book.com. Clients pick their dates, fill out a brief, and the contract gets sent and signed in the same flow. No chasing. No separate tools.
I built it for my own problem. I've been using it. It works for me.
What I genuinely don't know: does this problem exist for other day-rate freelancers, or am I just bad at admin?
If you freelance by the day — any discipline — I have two questions:
Does the booking-then-contract chaos I described sound familiar?
Would you want to poke around an early version and tell me what's broken?
Not trying to sell anything yet. Trying to find out if this is worth building for more than one person.
The friction is real.

hard-book is solving a real problem.
The only thing I’d revisit is the name.
“hard-book” explains the mechanism, but it undersells the outcome and sounds more rigid than premium.
If this becomes the system freelancers use to lock work faster, the brand likely needs to feel cleaner and more durable than the workflow itself.

Xevoa.com and Exirra.com also work well depending on whether you want it to feel more premium or more operational.

On the name — appreciate the suggestion, but I'm holding off on a rename until I have actual users telling me the name is the thing stopping them from using it. Right now my problem is finding the first 10 freelancers who'll try it, not the brand.
Hardbook also intentionally leans into the "locked-in" angle which I think matches the value prop. But noted, and if usage data ever says otherwise I'll revisit.

For first 10 users, speed matters more than polish.
The only reason I’d keep pressure on the name early is not conversion today, it’s recall tomorrow.
The workflow gets someone to try it.
The name is what gets repeated when one freelancer tells another.
That usually does not matter at user 10.
It starts mattering a lot around user 30.
