Anyone recommend a bank for a business checking account for a small start-up based in Austin, Texas?
I've used a mixture of big banks (Bank of America, Chase) and smaller regional banks (I'm in the Midwest, not Texas, but I bet the options are similar). Unfortunately, my experience with every single bank has been bad. None of them (even the small ones) are capable of understanding how small startups work, so most of the products beyond basic checking/savings accounts are off-limits.
As far as the checking accounts go, at the end of the day they all do the same thing. The big difference I found was the online experience (e.g. being able to deposit checks from your phone, bill pay, etc.). I hate supporting the big banks, but the reality is that they have much better web/mobile experiences, and everything else is about the same. So I'm using BoA right now, but I previously used Chase when I was in a different city where they had more of a presence. They're pretty much the same in my experience.
Agree 100%. I would however tilt more towards Chase. They have better credit card perks and terms.
I have a personal checking account with BofA and I’m really trying to avoid using them for my business 😣
Agreed, I absolutely hate them. But the reality is (in my experience anyway) the giant evil banks are the path of least resistance. I can't wait for Stripe to offer full bank accounts (their new corporate card seems like a step in that direction).
Yep, they would crush all other banks when it comes to UX. Actually, they would probably just generally be way better.
I've used both Capital One Spark Business and Azlo. Capital One Spark Business mysteriously sort of vanished around when I stopped using them so I wouldn't recommend them. But Azlo, I love. They have great customer support and a nice UI and mobile app.
Perfect - I’ll check them out. Thanks!
There are online options now too. I'm using https://www.azlo.com/ and am happy, but I don't have to write paper checks and do everything through the card.
Turns out I'm not going to be able to use Azlo because they don't offer joint accounts for partners X(
That looks great - I won’t be writing paper checks so I’ll check them out - thanks!
