Business licenses?

I want to set up an LLC for my side businesses, a SaaS product that runs in customer's cloud environments. My 'business' I suppose is writing and distributing the software, rather than actively providing a service to my customers.

I can set up an LLC, but I'm wondering if I also need to get a business license. I do the 'work' at home right now, and am not actively consulting with anyone. My sales happen mainly online and not in my city or county.

Can anyone advise? Is just an LLC enough?
