How well can you monetize from these ads? That depends on how much traffic you get, how much you get paid on a CPM/CPC/etc basis, etc.
How do ads affect your product? It's possible they'll significantly decrease usage because your target market hates them, or that they'll take your precious time away from much-needed product development if you end up doing ad sales. Of course, it's also possible that you can integrate ads in such away that users don't mind, and that is exactly in line with the work you do. For example, I did sponsored interviews in the early days of Indie Hackers.
