Thanks for the replies guy. I guess a little background info is in order. I started a small company with some co-workers where we can make a little extra side income and hopefully reach financial independence and retire early (FIRE). Our company's focus is application development (web/mobile) and tech consulting. We got a contract about a month after we started through a person I used to work for. It was to make a mobile MVP app that would use machine learning/AI (via Google) and Firebase. Our deadline was in 1 month and we managed to beat the deadline by a few days. We had a fancy demo and we knocked it out of the park. They eventually didn't pursue the idea that we built the app for, but ever since then, we never really got any contracts. We've tried content marketing, handing out flyers, cold emails, cold calls, etc. and never really got anything. Our issue is that we never got follow through even when we reach out to the right people and they respond. We always get to the last 10% or so and then never hear back from them again. We tried sites like moonlight, but we still have the same issue of people not following through. I reached out to an individual that wrote some very good blog posts about how he became successful with his consulting business and he recommended that I get a mentor/coach. Hence, this post. I've been reading IndieHackers for a long time and listening to the podcasts on my way to work and found it to be a very inspiring/helpful community. I guess we just need some guidance/mentoring to see what we're doing wrong or not doing that we should be doing in order to gain more clients.
