Do y'all use social proof widgets (Fomo, Use Proof, etc...) on your product pages?
Is there space in said market for a lower priced offering targeted at Indie Hackers who are willing to handle a bit more technical setup work?
It depends on the amount of technical work. I happily pay $79 to Proof every month because the set up is (almost) frictionless and I don't need to waste time on implementation.
If you are targeting businesses that bring in at least 5 digits a month, I doubt they will care if they are paying $79 or $39.

Personally, I only trust embedded tweets, otherwise it just looks fishy or even generated reviews :)
Where/how do you get those tweets? Manually ask?

I think they collect the the tweets manually and embed them to the site. I cannot remember which site exactly at the moment. But it truly gives more trust to the site than some probably generated reviews from some random providers :)

Hi Caleb, there is definitely space. I know of someone who created a generic version and is able to generate upwards of $50k+ per year from such a widget. I won’t mention what it is out of courtesy to my friend, but hope that gives you an idea of the scope of return. The churn is ridiculously high, however.

Per my initial post, I'm thinking about targeting the tech-savvy soloprenuer niche. My hypothesis is that developrenuers are willing to spend a little time up-front on setup in order to pay less per month... 🤔

We have manually crafted testimonials from our community. We often embed or retweet comments from our community too.
Personally, social proof, I kinda of shrug at these days. Not sure what the value of a tool would bring? (please convince me otherwise?)
