Calling all PWAs for Submission

Hello everyone!

Back in 2016, I learned about Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and what it meant to build one, although not something new, I quickly got super excited and realized this could mean that finally, we had a way to break from platform-dependent mobile applications, even though there are phenomenal frameworks that could make mobile app development a breeze (react-native, flutter, ...) there was something in me that still enjoyed web app development more than anything.

Even though I loved the idea of building a PWA, at the time I was building a bot application, I decided to not go the PWA route and instead used react-native just because I wanted it to be published in Apple's App Store and Google Play Store.

4 years forward, I feel that there are more tools and native-support to once again get excited about PWAs and hence I'm building a few of my own, but I also recognize that we need more developers to build these, and although there are few places where you could showcase your app, I'm building a list of complete and only the best PWAs out there, repo style, more details to come soon!

If you have or are developing one, please list it here, write about what do you think it would take to increase the adoption rate of PWAs in general. I would also love it if you could provide more information about your PWA, screenshots, icon, etc... in a DM. I will publish this very soon as a list, git repo style, at progrezz.io (still under construction).

I'll start:

What am I building:
I'm currently developing a platform for restaurants to build their own food menu, with payment support (Payment Request API), delivery, and push notifications (Notifications API). The real important thing here is that I want to be able for users to scan a QR code and send them to the restaurant's menu, without the need for them to download an app, and still be able to get all the benefits of a real app.

Why not a mobile App?
There are thousands of apps in the mobile store, although the way to find the app could be done with a combination of organically SEO, ads, and word of mouth, and not to mention that I want for users to have a simplified experience, but with all the perks of having the app.

What would take to increase the adoption rate of PWAs in general?
I really think is a combination of these factors:

  1. Native support for things like Push notifications and Payment API, although it is already possible, I think we need more resources, and for all browsers to really adopt these technologies.
  2. More information and resources that talk about PWA's, I know there are a lot of resources out there, but we rarely hear or see adoption in communities like indie hackers, or product hunt. We need moreeee!
  3. Last but definitely not least, we need excitement/motivation around PWAs, we need to give it a try, I know mobile app development is king, but I think we need to be courageous about it, we need to make the first step, and really give it a go!

So what do you think? Is it worth it? Am I a dreamer?

P.S. Remember to send me a D.M. if interested in knowing more and if you want to add your PWA to the list I'm currently building at Progrezz.io (which will probably link to a Git repository).
