Can I get away with an MVP-style business plan? Or do I need something more?

I work a TON with freelancers and I'm always pushing the idea of a quick (almost MVP-style) business plan instead of wasting HOURS or MONTHS on a business plan that will ultimately change VERY quickly. (My philosophy on business plans here: https://millo.co/one-page-business-plan-template)

So I guess my question is: as I start to venture out into more product development (as opposed to providing a service), should I be developing a larger, more in-depth business plan first? Or should I stick to the small, quick, MVP-style business plan to get a product off the ground?

If I'm not raising any capital or anything, is there an advantage you've found to a more inclusive business plan?

TIA.
