Can tech-empowered users redefine the rideshare landscape?

Platform economy giants, like Uber and Bolt, monopolize industries, suppressing competition and killing innovation. When a few platforms dominate, it’s not just about getting from A to B anymore, as the dominance directly affects our pockets.

Fewer competitors means higher prices and worse service quality. And while we’re at it, drivers just have to take it, with reduced earnings and limited choices, because their livelihood depends on it.

By leveraging technology to interact with platforms as they do with users, we could champion decentralization more effectively. And, well… the concept of interoperability, sparked by techniques like scraping (which could eventually pave the way for open APIs and protocols), is just starting. We’ve seen its success in industries like fintech with players like Plaid and Affirm, or flight booking platforms. The broader internet economy ought to reflect the dynamics of the real world - diverse and filled with competition.

An app that offers a comparison of prices, including active discounts and ETAs? Kinda’ starts to look like firepower for the end-user. So we built Bliq - a meta-search engine for ridehailing, that crawls the incumbents for their best offers.

Try it out at https://bliq.app - let us know what you think, it's free to download.
