Can you bribe your early users?

Let's say you've tried posting, commenting, DM'ing, buying ads, and you still don't have enough of those critical early users.

Have you thought about simply paying people to try your SaaS?

Let's try an experiment!

The first 15 Indie Hackers who try Headlamp before 9am Pacific Time on August 12, 2022 will win a $10 Starbucks Gift Card.

The rules:

  1. Install the FREE Headlamp Extension and pick any single web site you'd like to test. Details here.

  2. Browse to the site you want to test, turn on Headlamp, and clear 100 dots. You can check your progress on the Reports.

  3. Publicly tweet @HeadlampTest a screenshot of your accomplishment: the Headlamp Tester Actions Report for one web site showing that you tested 100 elements. Send it before 9am PST on 2022-08-12, along with any ideas, problems, or general feedback. I'll use the Gmail address from your report unless you tell me somewhere else to send the gift card.

  4. Enjoy a breakfast/lunch/beverage on me!

I'll reply here next week with the results.

Thanks for the feedback! Your reply alone was worth the $150 I spent, don't ya think? :)

Yes, I cast a wide net for the early users. This isn't a play for revenue, it's for eyeballs and feedback. Most people here on IH are technical enough to check out Headlamp and give me some unvarnished feedback. So far it's working like a charm!

your offerings (aka pricing) need to be changed

Regarding pricing, what would you recommend? I'm happy for now just to get some vocal and demanding users at the free tier.

I felt you are telling me no matter who I am or what I do I can use your service

Yes, I need to sell into my niche (Software Test Managers, Product Managers).
