Can you describe my landing page in one word?

Hey 👋

We have just launched and I am afraid that I got the marketing message wrong 🤦‍♂️

Can you describe my landing page in one word? (please don't look at the comments before posting)

https://coment.in

Other feedback on what you like/dislike/would do differently is also welcome.

Thank you!

Share and get feedback on documents, I suppose.

The website looks great. Few changes I would make:

    1. "With Coment, gather, review, validate and comment quickly documents with your teams", this should be your heading. Your actual heading isn't clear enough, sounds like a slogan.

    2. Website and images' language should be the same.

    3. The CTA button blends too much with the background. Find a more contrasting color.

    4. I would move the heading, subheading, CTA and CTA buttons on the left and the image on the right.

    5. I would make the comments on the first image bigger. Right now they are pretty hard to read.

Agree on the main heading. Perhaps simplify it a touch: "Quickly gather, review, validate and comment on documents"

        Thank you @justalever!

Thanks @Luqa. These are good points!

      1. Totally agree with you but don't you think it's going to be too long?
      2. Sure, it takes so much time to do it in several languages 😫
      3. OK, I'll work on the colors
      4. Is there a reason for that?
      5. You're right

        1. I read that, according to data, 8-12 words is the optimal number for the heading. Your would have 12.
(4). You should make all the hero content visible above the folder. Right the image is partially cutted out, so you can change the structure or make all the other elements smaller. Both would probably have the same effect, so it is up to you what to choose. Probably, mine is a bit faster, but I am not sure about it.
        1. 1

Thanks @Luqa, your point 2 is referring to the point 4, right?

          1. 1

Yes, I actually wrote for but the editor automatically changes it with 2. Now I added the parenthesis to make it more clear.

    3. 1

Seconded on the images being in English. Its a wierd disconnect reading product features in English and having the screenshots be in French.

      1. 1

We'll work on that, thank you @ValCanBuild

      thank you @Michael_Andreuzza

Revision - I think that came to me first since the name of the website and being able to comment on docs.

    1. 1

Thank you @Milestonehackers. Do you think you will be able to edit the documents online?

      1. 1

        Yes I believe so.

  3. 1

    Why do I need this?

    1. 1

That's the first thing that comes to your mind when you see the website? Do you mean that you don't need this?

      1. 1

Yes. That was the first thing. Maybe because when I opened it I saw a blueprint for a building and I am not an architect. And when I saw "collaborate better" the second thought was "I already have Google apps for that".

        1. 1

OK I understand the thinking process. That does not correspond to what we do so I guess I need to change some things :)

Not one word, but maybe: Actionable Notes?

You should post it to https://explainmyproduct.com to get more, unbiased feedback on it.

I launched it on Product Hunt this morning.

Thanks @yash_ambardekar, I will make sure to check out Explain my product, it is a really nice idea.

Excellent page! Just by reading the title I directly understood the goal of your service.
    Simple and straightforward

    1. 1

      Thanks @thesustainabledude!

    "Broad"

First of all, the product seems really interesting and feature rich! I think the landing page would benefit from being more poignant (i.e. tell me more about who the type of user upfront)

    1. 2

Thank you @ssharpe11, that's definitely something we will be working on, as we had similar feedback.

    one word: annotate

    1. 1

      two words: thank you
      :)

    I can't really...

I think the problem is you start with a solution not a problem. It would be helpful to me if you could state the main problem - ie Feel like you're wasting time/money/sleep collaborating? or something so I can understand if I have this problem and should read on. Otherwise its up to me to interpret if this solution fits any problem I can think of in a second or so (which I can't).

You have a blueprint so maybe go through that step by step to show how collaboration problems occur and the costs/impacts of that.

Also if it's mainly for architects maybe it should focus on that market only at the beginning? I think making it generic is not a good idea - if you have a specific target problem in mind it should help build a core user base - but that's only my theory - I would go test and let the data help guide you.

    1. 1

Hello @jloha312, thanks for the feedback. I think I'll add some problems faced by the different teams to help the visitor understand if he should be concerned or not (in a few seconds).

About the goto market strategy, the product is not only for architects, as we believe (and have had positive feedback during our beta test) that teams from different markets have the same team collaboration issues. That is the strategy we chose for now and we are trying to get the marketing message right (which is not easy but we can improve it with all the nice IH feedbacks!).

      1. 1

Gotcha. Yhea I would agree it's tricky to get the messaging right.

I would also track visits/signups/purchases by user market - architects vs others to make sure the customer actions support what they say. This way you will have data to quickly determine if a market you didn't know about is working better - then maybe you want to focus more energy on that market.

        1. 1

You're totally right, as soon as we identify new markets, we will create appropriate channels for these markets to deliver a more specific message.

    One word: collaboration

    Other feedback:
Looks good, and pretty easy to see what you offer. Kind of like Zeplin for documents. One thing that might be lacking is a really clear pain point that you're addressing. In other words, perhaps a section that highlights "Tired of [some troublesome task]?", "No more [annoying process]" etc.

    1. 2

Interesting input @tagawa, thank you. What do you think about "The end of infinite email threads with modified attachments"?

      1. 1

I like it! If you decide to create an accompanying image or video you could show filenames like "report_final.doc", "report_final_final2.doc", "report_really-final.doc", etc. That stuff drives me crazy!

        1. 1

You're so right. The naming thing is surely the visible part of an improvable collaboration process.

  10. 1

is there an option of downloading the document after reviewing/commenting ?
And is there a file size limit when it comes to sharing documents?

    1. 1

Hey @AimanA, yes, in a few weeks, you will be able to download the document after reviewing/commenting in the paid plans. It generates a PDF with all the comments, status, document history.

There is no file size limit on paid plans (10MB on the free plan).

    two words: document approval :)

Approval isn’t mentioned anywhere on the landing page that I noticed, but that’s what it sounds like it is to me.

I’ve worked on these types of systems in the past...
Document approval, video approval and image approvals. Typically used by pre-production/print agencies and their clients along with asset management systems.
In fact back around 2012 I built a video approval app using angular 1 and WebObjects (Apple web framework) for my employer at the time as a PoC that integrates with the asset management system i’d also worked on from the ground up over 8+ years. Was a fun project.

    1. 2

You're right @Shaunau, the approval is at the core of the platform, it seems that the use of 'validate/validation' might not be the most appropriate.

We are also thinking of adding the support of audio/video files in the near future :)

    2. 1

When I built the video approval for my employer one of the most important features was being able to add comments on the timeline and then the reviewers and approver could click the comment to jump from comment to that point in the video.

Actually, I wonder if this is something that podcasters could benefit from? I don’t know any podcasters personally, but perhaps there’s a market opportunity there.

      HTH

      1. 1

Sorry for the late answer @Shaunau, I think there might be an opportunity here but right now this is too much of a niche market and we still don't have the video review product.

  12. 1

Documents manager? The website looks super but I was not able to get what it does that existing product like "Google Docs" doesn't do.

    1. 1

Thanks @IHkishan for the feedback. Google docs is more for document creation (inside the document) whereas Coment is for document collaboration (inside and outside the document), when the document is almost finished and you share it with the team to get feedback/a review/approval.
What we bring on top pf Google docs :

      • comment status (validate / reject)
      • comment reactions
      • document status and review/validation workflows
      • team discussions
      • for PDFs, comments remain on the document with version change
      • no need for gmail account to login and participate
What do you think of these features?
If was not clear I guess I should add that on the FAQ or main page :)
      1. 1

Thanks @Antoinedv for explaining. Looks good product. All the best :)

      Thanks @jcharlesworthuk.

      • we get that feedback sometimes about the spelling, right now we don't plan on changing it but who knows!
      • that's right, we need to update the screenshots
      • Based on other feedback, we may update it with "Gather, review, approve and comment quickly documents with your teams" to be clearer about what it does. How does that sound for you?
