Can you still use Hunter's help if you use Ship on ProductHunt?

Hi people!

My team and I have developed a tool that helps to save, organize and collaborate on messages from Whatsapp. We will soon launch the tool on PH (and give nice bonuses, so stay tuned if you're interested ;)

We're looking to get feedback with this launch and obviously want to get the most eyeballs to it. We want to be hunted (so we get a bit of this extra help with the following), but are also interested in the Upcoming page feature of the Ship.

Does using Ship mean that you launch as self-hunted? Can you be hunted by someone else on purpose if you use Ship?

And what's yours experience with the Ship and the Upcoming page? Is it worth it?

Hey @KyTa, I think there a difference when you use Ship/Upcoming product. The Ship/Upcoming way tells your followers and the discovery community on product hunt that you are working on a new Product, and you what to collect subscribers or interest people on your product. It's like having a newsletter input on your site.

With this subscriber, you can have updated to date news about your product. When its time to release you publish on ProductHunt this changes the status to "made".

I am new to this too, I have an upcoming page https://upstamps.com/. This a good way to start show everyone that you are working on a great product.

Thanks for your answer! I am particularly interested to understand if there is an option to be hunted by the other person (instead of self-posting). It's not obvious from Ship's description as one of their value points is that you won't be hunted by the other person if you don't want to.

But how it works if you purchase Ship and want someone else to post you?

Hunters, it's just a basic user like me and you, when um find a product and post you become a hunter, so there's no direct option on ProductHunt for buying hunters. What makes a good hunter is his popularity on the platform aka followers when these popular hunters post something all their followers receive a notification.

There's always the option of contacting directly to hunters but nowadays I assume they receive a lot of emails about that topic that saturates the inbox. Paying for Ship will boost your product, this will have a great impact on the home page. You're going to gain more visibility so more people will find your product and this can convert to hunters.

Any advice on how to approach top hunters in order to get their help? Did it happen naturally for you?

Thanks! By the way, the distribution&analytics tool for the music creators is a cool idea!
