Would you use it?
I can see this being useful for small business! But then the question becomes, how much data do small businesses really have, for them to find data analytic / visualization tools like this useful.
For example, there is Domo and Tableau, that provide services like this at a much larger scale, and allow data manipulation as well.
Thanks @sosa067, that's a really welcome response! You're right, there are some great tools in-market right now for tasks such as BI and general analysis. I think this product is progressing in the direction of "story analysis" which is really fascinating for data sources like demographics, gov data, event data etc. It's still a POC right now, but with some more development, it would be even simpler to shape and refine the visualisation to identify threads of interest - kind of a visual drill-down. My expectation is that it would be a service for journalists, newsrooms, and perhaps seasonal businesses
@cf62 You as would you use it. Tbh my answer would be no. Not because your product is not good but I just don't have a use case for it.
Who would use this kind of product? What people are you targeting. Do you already have paying customers?
Hi @sandersjj - great to have your focus on product-market-fit! My thinking is that (with a bit more development) it would be a service for data/design agencies, journalists, editorial/news services and businesses that have seasonal variance in their sales data. I'll continue working on it!
I think it's a real problem.
The biggest challenge in my opinion however is that every business' sheets are formatted differently and it will take a lot of effort from the biz owner to configure your product to generate graphs / analyses on THEIR sheets.
Hey @raunaqss, bullseye 🎯! Data transformation is the hidden monster with using any BI/analytics/vis tool. I'm working on an idea that will support a User attaching any data source, then in a simple UI, configure which attributes get called into the visualisation. Data ETL is always going to be a necessity, but I think this way will be easier than forcing Users to adopt a strict schema. That's something I'll be testing carefully
This falls under "I'm SURE somebody would use this, I'm just not the target market for it."

I love data and data visualisation tools. If this product is a free Google Sheet extension, with the possibility to define custom colour scheme, then I would use it.

Personally I wouldn't because I lack interesting data, but companies are more and more pronte to create so-called "data news" where you just put interesting statistics and visualize it. So I think if you go to the right people, you can find potential customers.

I'm looking to add a "scrollytelling" aspect to this, so that you just upload a data file, and start scrolling through threaded visualisations to discover previously hidden themes
How is it better than just putting it in Google Sheets or Excel?
Hey @joshdance, great question! It's very much a data vis tool that you could use once you have your data in Google Sheets/Excel. My hope is for it to be a fascinating, and deeply engaging way to understand your data sources, that might be currently locked into flat table structures (xls etc). Those can be quite tiring to review for anomalies, outliers, trends etc
