Canadian immigration news aggregator with Pory

I'm launching a micro-product today, https://www.imminews.live/ , for people who are interested in coming to Canada for study / work / immigration. It's a news aggregator that I built with Pory, as a lead magnet for other immigration-related products I'm launching soon.

      Thanks! It's just the beginning!

Congrats Blake!! This looks great. Clean and focused. What are you using as the techstack for website?

    1. 2

      Thanks so much!
It's pory.io on the front, which uses airtable.com on the back.
And I use visualping.io to monitor web pages and get alerts so that I can find the content.

Congrats! Just subscribed to the newsletter at the top. I'm also looking forward to this new product you're working on. It'd be very useful for me as a developer interested in moving to Canada.

Thanks Fernando! I'm working on a product for Canadian visas, and then a product for Canadian employers to hire prospective immigrants. I was an immigration consultant before working on tech products. My business partners are all Brazilians! ;-)

That's awesome, Blake! I'm truly excited to see both products go live. If you need any help with it please let me know, I'll be happy to help!

Congrats! Too bad we can't post in multiple categories, as there is a Canada group as well.

Thanks! The prospective customers are prospective Canadians, so I don't think there would be much engagement with ImmiNews in that group anyway.

This looks very useful... I'm a web dev planning on moving to Canada next year. What is the best way to migrant to Canada?

    1. 3

Being a web dev is very helpful for moving to Canada as it's a role that's in very high demand. How you can immigrate to Canada depends on a several factors related to your personal and professional background. The easiest and quickest way to get here as a web dev is to get sponsored by an employer, but getting the sponsor is not as easy. I'm working on a product for employers to seek skilled workers such as yourself for sponsorships.
You can start to research Express Entry and Global Talent Stream.

Thanks so much! I'll have things ready soon to help you get ready to come next year :-)

Congrats! Clean and useful tool here. How do you aggregate the news? Is it through Pory?

      Hi Franck, thanks so much!
I use a website monitoring tool, https://visualping.io/ to monitor website changes. So I have a list of websites that I add to Visualping and it detects any changes per the instructions I set. It's very useful.
From there I enter just a few details of the post into the Airtable back-end of the Pory template and the site gets updated live.
I'll add more automation as I go along :-)

Thanks for the information. I am living in the USA but I found a good job in Canada a year ago. It is 150 miles from my house and I travel every day from the USA to Canada. It doesn't take a lot of time because I have a nexus card which helps to pass over borders in some minutes. If you need it, you can take it from https://nexus-card.com/renew-your-nexus-card.php . They are experts in this domain and can help you to get in some days, moreover, it doesn't cost a lot. For more details, you can ask them through email.

Thanks @BlakeWS, Any negative effect of these links on SEO ?

Asking as I am thinking to start news posting webpage and heard that this may affect SEO.

    1. 1

I have no idea, SEO is not my thing. The site is a list of links to other sites, no original content, so I can't imagine how that would help it anyway.
